CORES'09 is the sixth International Conference on Computer Recognition Systems organized by Chair of Systems and Computer Networks of Wroclaw University of Technology. The conference will take place on 25-28 May 2009 in Paulinum Palace, Jelenia Góra, Poland. Accepted and presented papers will be included in the Proceedings published by Springer-Verlag in the series Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing.Proceedings will be indexed by ISI Proceedings, DBLP. Ulrich's, SCOPUS, Zentralblatt Math, MetaPress, Springerlink Extended version of selected papers will be published in special issue of Computational Intelligence "Fusion methods in pattern recognition" and Expert Systems "Statistical, soft and structural methods of pattern recognition". Authors of selected best papers will be invited to publish their papers in Pattern Analysis and Applications too. Program of the conference is available here. The award for the best presentations given by a young scientist funded by the Association for image Processing, has been granted to: Marcin Michalak from the Silesian University of Technology, Institute of Computer Science, for the paper "Time series prediction using new adaptive kernel estimators" The distinctions for the best presentations given by young scientists funded by Chair of Systems and Coputer Networks, Wroclaw University of Technology and Microsoft, have been granted to: Leticia Curiel from University of Burgos, for the presentation A Soft Computing System for Modelling the Manufacture of Steel Components Donato Impedovo from Politecnico di Bari, for the presentation Pseudo Multi Parallel Branch HMM for Speaker Verification Artur Klepaczko from Technical University of Lodz, for the presentation Cluster Analysis in Application to Quantitative Inspection of 3D Vascular Tree Images
